Terms of Service

1. Acceptance

By installing, signing in to, or using KDP Quick Scout (the "Extension" and the companion site at kdpquickscout.com, collectively the "Service"), you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, don't install or use the Service.

2. About the Service

KDP Quick Scout is a niche-research tool for self-publishing authors on Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing. It scrapes publicly-visible data from Amazon book product pages you actively browse, lets you track that data over time, and provides AI-generated niche analysis on demand. It is a research assistant — not financial, legal, publishing, or business advice. Decisions you make with it are your own.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old to use the Service. By using it you confirm you meet this requirement and have the legal capacity to enter into this agreement.

4. Account

• You may use the Extension without an account for local-only book tracking.
• An account is required for cloud sync and AI niche analysis. You can create one with email/password or sign in with Google.
• You're responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. Notify us promptly if you suspect unauthorised access.
• You may delete your account at any time by emailing the address below; we'll wipe your synced data within 30 days.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service to scrape Amazon at a scale that violates Amazon's Conditions of Use or Robot Exclusion standards. The Extension reads only the pages you actively browse; using it inside automated scripts or headless tools to bulk-scrape is out of scope.
• Reverse-engineer, decompile, redistribute, sub-license, or repackage the Extension or its server components.
• Submit content to AI niche analysis that you don't have the right to submit (e.g. proprietary or confidential third-party material).
• Abuse the AI rate limits, attempt to bypass quota enforcement, or share your account to multiply quota.
• Use the Service to compete with the Service itself (e.g. building a competing extension by scraping our analyses).

We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these rules.

6. AI niche analysis

AI analyses are generated by Google's Gemini language model. Important caveats:

• Outputs are best-effort summaries based on the model's training data and the context we send. They may contain errors, omissions, outdated information, or speculative claims.
• Outputs are not advice. Don't make publishing, pricing, marketing, or business decisions on AI output alone — verify against primary sources.
• Rate limits apply: currently 5 analyses per day and 2 per hour per account. Soft-deleted analyses still count toward rate limits.
• The AI provider may evolve, and previously-saved analyses may not be reproducible exactly with newer models.

7. Cost

The Service is currently provided at no cost. Features available today — book tracking with up to 10 cloud-synced books, 5 AI niche analyses per day, and all comparison and browse features — are included without payment. No subscription is required.

8. Intellectual property

• The Extension, its UI, the website, and the brand identity are owned by KDP Quick Scout. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the Extension as intended.
• AI analyses generated for your account are yours to use (within the Acceptable use limits in §5). The underlying data we extract from Amazon belongs to its respective rights holders (Amazon, the book's authors and publishers).
• You retain all rights to your account data — including tracked-book history and saved analyses — and can request a full export at any time.

9. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, express or implied. We make no guarantees about availability, accuracy, completeness, fitness for any particular purpose, or non-infringement. Specifically: BSR data, prices, and AI analyses may be incorrect, outdated, or missing. Don't rely on the Service as your sole source of truth for any decision.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, KDP Quick Scout, its developers, and its sub-processors shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages — including but not limited to lost profits, lost revenue, lost data, or business interruption — arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Service. Our total liability for any claim related to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or USD 10, whichever is greater.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold KDP Quick Scout harmless from any claim brought by a third party arising from your breach of these Terms, your misuse of the Service, or content you submit to AI analysis without the right to do so.

12. Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these Terms or that pose security or abuse risk to other users or our infrastructure. On termination, the license granted in §8 ends; your right to a data export survives termination for 30 days.

13. Changes to these Terms

We may revise these Terms over time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the current version. Material changes will be announced in the Extension or by email at least 14 days before taking effect. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
